Financial year ending March 2026 · Published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Section 54
Introduction
Medical Consulting™ is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending March 2026.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Medical Consulting™ is a small, CQC-registered independent provider of consultant ophthalmology services operating within the NHS commissioning framework in England. Our workforce consists of qualified NHS consultant ophthalmologists and a small administrative team.
Our supply chains are limited and primarily comprise:
- Clinical consumables and medical equipment suppliers
- Diagnostic imaging and ophthalmic technology providers
- Professional services (legal, accountancy, IT)
- Clinic premises and facilities management
Our Policies
We maintain the following policies relevant to modern slavery:
- Recruitment policy — all staff are recruited through lawful channels with right-to-work checks conducted in line with UK law
- Whistleblowing policy — staff are encouraged and protected in raising concerns about any suspected exploitation or unethical conduct
- Supplier code of conduct — suppliers are expected to uphold equivalent standards to our own
Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
We assess the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains as low, given the nature of our operations and the regulated professional environment in which we work. Nevertheless, we take the following steps:
- Verifying the identity and employment status of all clinical and administrative staff
- Conducting due diligence on new suppliers, including review of their own modern slavery policies where applicable
- Ensuring all staff are paid at or above the National Living Wage
- Maintaining awareness of the indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking
Training and Awareness
All staff receive induction training that includes awareness of modern slavery and their obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Clinical staff also receive NHS-aligned safeguarding training which includes recognition of exploitation and trafficking.
